The National Council for Civic Education – The Gambia (#NCCE) completes a Learning Forum with Stakeholders on Advancing the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (#PWDs) in #TheGambia. The Forum is being held in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission, The Gambia (#NHRC) and Gambia Federation for Disability (#GFD), with funding from UNICEF Gambia under the #UNPRPD project.
The forums’ goal is to actively include key stakeholders in order to create knowledge about the unique obligations and responsibilities in mainstreaming disabilities across all sectors and services. This will help to promote the full realisation of rights and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.
Setting up forums for important players in the disability rights space-in particular, organisations representing Persons With Disabilities and decision_makers to get together and discuss issues impacting people with disabilities is the main goal of these learning sessions.
Talking on the theme, “A Collective Journey to Creating Inclusive Spaces for Disability Rights.” His lordship, Magistrate Muhammad Krubally, emphasised how powerful the theme is because it centres around the first Principle of PWDs, which is Respecting Diversity. He thus urges everyone to join forces with the government, authorities, and other parties in this endeavour to establish spaces for People With Disabilities.
The National Council for Civic Education – The Gambia #NCCE, extends sincere appreciation to the National Human Rights Commission, The Gambia for collaborating on this project, as it is a first of its kind and looks forward to more partnership, the Gambia Federation For The Disabled, and UNICEF Gambia for supporting us under the #UNPRPD project.
