Continuous civic engagement is vital in sustaining our nascent democracy as it allows citizens to actively participate in the democratic process, enabling them to have a voice in decision-making, policy formation, and governance.
In this regards, the NCCE with funding from UNDP The Gambia begins today in Kerewan, NBR, The Orientation of Political Parties on the Electoral Laws and Processes, and Maintenance of Peace Post 2023 Local Government Election.
The program seeks to enhance the understanding of political partiesโ representatives regarding electoral laws and processes, as well as promote peaceful and inclusive democratic practices.
The orientation sessions will be conducted in all the regions, involving representatives from various political parties, women and youth representatives, electoral officials, and civil society organizations with a view to fostering dialogue and collaboration among political parties to promote a peaceful electoral environment.
