NCCE with support from The ECOWAS Mission to The Gambia carried out another round of civic engagement dubbed “Community Sensitisation on Democratic Governance and The Electoral Process.”
The sensitisation which began in Suwareh Kunda in Lower Baddibu, North Bank is aimed at deepening citizensโ understanding of the principles and values of democracy and to promote peace and tolerance in the upcoming local government elections and beyond.
The activity, in the form of community meetings characterised by presentations on key thematic issues by NCCE Officials, will be conducted in four communities within North Bank and Lower River Regions in the span of four days.
Mr Ansumana Yabo, NCCE Civic Education Officer reiterated the need for all citizens to value peace and tolerate each other’s political, cultural and religious view because “politics is about choices and it will not be practicable for all citizens to support one particular party because we live in a multi-party democracy where citizens are free to support the party of their choice”.
